==About the performance==

In 1969, popular Sydney band The Executives decided to try their luck in the USA. They left for Los Angeles in September, returning three months later, just in time for Christmas. As part of the tour, their manager arranged for them to play nightly shows to and from the USA aboard P&O liners Oriana and Orsova respectively.

Fortunately for us, an S.S. Orsova crewman had the forethought to record one of the shows from their return journey in December. Performed in the crews quarters mess hall, the show was put on specifically for the ships officers and crew. Today, only the second half of the recording exists, however, it is enough to demonstrate just how entertaining the band was. It is likely to be the only live recording of the band in existence.

==About this transfer==

The performance was recorded on a humble cassette recorder through two microphones taped to the mess hall's low ceiling. It is no sonic masterpiece.

The "master cassette" was digitally transferred in 2002 by Dennis Fetchet. Unfortunately, the first half of the performance had been accidentally over-recorded back in the early seventies, leaving only the last half salvageable.

For this release I took Dennis' straight transfer and judiciously re-EQed to reduce the "mud" and to add some clarity. While a marked improvement, it is still nothing sonically amazing. But IMHO the performance *is* amazing, hence it is offered for its rarity and the insight it provides anyone who was not fortunate enough to attend a live performance by the band back in the sixties.

It is shared with the knowledge and blessing of the original Executive drummer, Rhys Clark, who owns the tape and the transfer. If sharing, pls respect Rhys' wishes and include the published and copyright details listed below and also on the artwork.
